About the Role
Hernandez Development & Construction is a growing firm looking for a seasoned, hands-on Fractional HR Business Partner to professionalize and manage our people operations. This is an ideal role for an HR professional who enjoys the autonomy of supporting a small, scaling business and wants to maintain a flexible, part-time schedule.
You will serve as the primary HR point of contact, ensuring our team is supported while keeping our administrative and compliance engines running smoothly. This role requires a “player-coach” mentality—shifting from high-level employee relations to the tactical execution of payroll and audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Paycom Administration: Act as the internal expert for our Paycom platform. You will manage the end-to-end lifecycle within the system, including seamless onboarding for new hires, payroll processing, and benefits administration.
- Compliance & Audits: Conduct regular audits of benefits invoices and payroll data to ensure accuracy and cost-control.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to both leadership and staff. You will handle performance management, conflict resolution, and help maintain the culture that makes Hernandez Construction unique.
- Onboarding & Lifecycle: Manage the full employee experience from the first day through offboarding, ensuring a professional and welcoming transition for all team members.
- Policy Oversight: Maintain and update the employee handbook and company policies to ensure compliance with Florida and Federal labor laws.
Qualifications
- System Proficiency: Deep, hands-on experience with Paycom is a mandatory requirement. You should be comfortable navigating payroll, benefits, and reporting modules without external training.
- Certification: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or an equivalent HR certification is required.
- Experience: 5+ years of HR experience, ideally with exposure to the construction, development, or real estate industries.
- Self-Starter: Experience working in a “Department of One” or fractional capacity for small-to-medium-sized businesses.
- Local Presence: Must be able to work on-site at our Las Olas office at least one day per week to engage with the team and leadership.

Pay: $55.00 – $70.00 per hour
