As Thrive continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced fundraising professional to help strengthen our philanthropic support and build meaningful, long-term relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
Position Overview
The Fractional Fundraising & Philanthropy Lead will focus exclusively on fundraising and donor development. This position will cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, develop major gift opportunities, strengthen donor stewardship, and pursue philanthropic support from foundations and corporations. This is a relationship-based fundraising role—not a grant-writing, program, or business development position.
The ideal candidate is someone who knows how to identify potential supporters, build authentic relationships, make the ask, and steward donors for the long term. This position may be structured as a part-time employee or fractional contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Donor Development & Major Gifts
- Identify and cultivate prospective individual donors
- Build and manage a pipeline of major gift prospects
- Develop relationships with current and prospective donors
- Conduct donor meetings and make major gift solicitations
- Create individualized cultivation and stewardship strategies
- Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with donors
- Identify opportunities to increase donor retention and recurring giving
- Foundation & Corporate Philanthropy
- Identify prospective foundation and corporate funders
- Cultivate relationships with philanthropic decision-makers
- Develop and present funding opportunities in partnership with Thrive leadership
- Secure corporate donations and sponsorships
- Build long-term relationships with corporate and foundation supporters
- Fundraising Strategy & Stewardship
- Work with Thrive leadership to establish realistic fundraising goals
- Maintain an organized donor and prospect pipeline
- Track donor contacts, solicitations, commitments, and follow-up
- Develop and implement a donor stewardship plan
- Provide regular updates to leadership on fundraising activity, opportunities, and results
Grant writing is not part of this position.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by both relationships built and revenue generated, including:
- A strong pipeline of qualified individual, foundation, and corporate prospects
- Increased number and value of major gifts
- New philanthropic relationships developed
- Increased donor retention and engagement
- Consistent donor stewardship and follow-up
- Growth in unrestricted philanthropic revenue
- Clear, measurable progress toward agreed-upon fundraising goals
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated success securing significant charitable gifts, including gifts of $50,000 or more
- Experience in major gifts fundraising, philanthropy, donor relations, or nonprofit development
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships and personally make fundraising asks
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing a donor pipeline
- Results-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability
Preferred
- Experience working with small or growing nonprofit organizations
- Existing philanthropic, foundation, or corporate relationships in Minnesota
- Knowledge of behavioral health, substance use, recovery, or family support
- Experience with donor CRM or database systems
- Experience developing donor stewardship strategies
Pay:
$18,200.00 – $75,000.00 per year
