DJ’s Electric is seeking an experienced Fractional Controller to provide strategic financial oversight and accounting leadership for our growing electrical contracting business.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Controller, CPA, or senior accounting professional who enjoys partnering with business owners to improve financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and provide meaningful financial insight without the demands of a full-time executive position.
You’ll work directly with ownership and our internal accounting team, serving as a trusted advisor responsible for reviewing financial performance, improving accounting processes, and helping guide sound business decisions.
What You’ll Do
As our Fractional Controller, you will:
- Review monthly financial statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and assist in Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting.
- Monitor cash flow and provide financial analysis and recommendations to ownership.
- Review accounting procedures, reconciliations, payroll summaries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Ensure month-end close activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Support compliance with accounting standards, payroll, sales tax, insurance, bonding, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with our CPA during year-end reporting and tax preparation.
- Recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and stronger internal controls.
- Assist leadership with financial planning, profitability analysis, and operational decision-making.
- Support project accounting, job costing, and change order financial oversight as needed.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working alongside leadership and helping businesses improve—not just producing financial reports.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Five or more years of Controller or senior accounting experience
- Construction accounting experience strongly preferred
- Experience with job costing and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Experience with ERP systems (Knowify experience is a plus)
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
