About Chroma Wellness Center
Chroma Wellness Center is Colorado’s LGBTQIA+ specific behavioral health treatment center, providing affirming, evidence-based care for adults in our Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and supportive housing programs. As our organization continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced HR professional to serve as a trusted advisor to our leadership team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex employee relations issues, coaching leaders, and helping organizations build healthy workplace cultures without being responsible for day-to-day HR administration.
About the Role
This is a strategic, consultative HR role rather than a traditional HR Generalist position. Our internal team manages recruiting, onboarding, payroll, scheduling, and routine HR administration. We’re looking for an experienced HR consultant who can provide expert guidance when leadership needs support navigating employee matters. You’ll partner directly with our executive leadership team to help ensure employment decisions are thoughtful, legally compliant, and aligned with our organizational values.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as an HR advisor to executive leadership and department managers
- Coach leaders through employee relations concerns and difficult conversations
- Assist with performance management and employee coaching strategies
- Draft and review corrective actions, written warnings, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and other employee documentation
- Consult on investigations involving employee concerns or workplace issues
- Provide guidance regarding Colorado and federal employment laws
- Assist leadership with termination planning and risk mitigation
- Review and recommend updates to HR policies, procedures, and documentation as needed
- Help ensure HR practices support a healthy, inclusive, and legally compliant workplace
- Be available for occasional urgent consultation when time-sensitive employee situations arise
This Position Does NOT Include Our internal team manages these functions: Recruiting and hiring, New hire onboarding, Payroll and compensation processing, Timecards and scheduling, Benefits administration, Routine HR paperwork, Day-to-day employee administration
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Strong employee relations experience
- Extensive knowledge of Colorado employment law
- Experience advising managers and executive leadership
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to work independently as a trusted consultant
Strongly Preferred
- Human Resources experience within behavioral healthcare, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments
- Experience supporting organizations with approximately 20–50 employees
- Familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
- Experience conducting workplace investigations
- Experience developing HR policies and performance management processes
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
