Position Overview
The FEP General Counsel is a trusted advisor responsible for managing legal risk, guiding operational strategy, and safeguarding the firm and its clients. This is not a traditional in-house counsel role — it is a fractional, advisory, founder-facing position that combines transactional, regulatory, and risk management expertise with strategic guidance on contracts, liability, and client engagements. The GC will work closely with the Founder to anticipate legal and compliance challenges and provide counsel that allows FEP to operate at the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and luxury service.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate client agreements, vendor contracts, and partnership arrangements.
- Advise on risk management, liability, and regulatory compliance for high-profile operations.
- Develop and maintain internal legal policies, procedures, and templates aligned with FEP’s operational standards.
- Provide strategic counsel on corporate structure, licensing, and high-risk operational scenarios.
- Support due diligence and legal oversight for partnerships, hires, and client engagements.
- Collaborate directly with the Founder to assess legal implications of business decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism in all matters.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in the State of New York. Strongly Preferred: Experience providing legal counsel to boutique professional services, security, or high-net-worth client-focused firms. Familiarity with executive protection, travel risk, or regulated security industries. Fractional or advisory counsel experience. Track record of managing sensitive, confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
Compensation & Engagement
Fractional / retainer-based arrangement, commensurate with experience. Flexibility in engagement structure (hours or scope-based retainer). Direct access to leadership and influence over firm growth and strategy. Opportunity to define and shape legal standards in a growing, boutique luxury EP firm.
