Fractional Medical Director – Behavioral Health (MD/DO)

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid / Remote)

Job Type: Part-Time / 1099 Independent Contractor

Schedule: Approximately 4–8 hours monthly initially

Compensation: $200–$250/hour, negotiable

Position Summary

We are seeking a board-certified physician to serve as a Fractional Medical Director supporting behavioral health programs, including Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) services.

The initial engagement will focus on regulatory readiness, clinical program development, accreditation preparation, and insurance payer credentialing. The position may expand into ongoing medical oversight as programs grow.

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Texas medical license.
• Current board certification in an applicable medical specialty; Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine preferred.
• Active CAQH Provider Data Portal profile with current, verifiable information.
• Active individual Type 1 National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Ability to provide Texas medical license number, NPI, CAQH Provider ID, and board certification documentation.
• Eligible for credentialing and enrollment with commercial insurance payers.
• No active license restrictions, exclusions, or disciplinary limitations that would prevent appointment.
• Experience with behavioral health programs, PHP, IOP, or addiction treatment preferred.

Initial Responsibilities

• Provide physician consultation on clinical policies and program development.
• Support licensing, accreditation, and regulatory readiness.
• Assist with commercial insurance credentialing and provider enrollment.
• Review relevant clinical protocols and medical policies.
• Participate in periodic executive and clinical leadership meetings.
• Provide guidance on medical staffing and program expansion.

Potential Expanded Responsibilities

• Serve as the designated Medical Director for PHP and additional treatment programs.
• Provide ongoing medical oversight and clinical consultation.
• Participate in quality assurance and clinical governance.
• Support regulatory compliance and clinical program development.

Any expanded responsibilities will be established through a mutually agreed contract amendment.
