Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Financial Controller / Fractional CFO to oversee the financial health of our company.
This role will work directly with leadership to build budgets, improve forecasting, create approval processes, monitor department spending, and provide financial insights that support smart business decisions.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with growing businesses and enjoys creating systems that scale.
Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Develop and maintain company financial forecasts
- Build monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets
- Analyze actual performance versus budget
- Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities
- Assist leadership with financial planning and strategic decision making
Budget Management
- Create department-level budgets
- Monitor spending against approved budgets
- Review budget requests from department leaders
- Recommend adjustments based on company priorities
- Improve overall financial accountability across the organization
Financial Oversight
- Review company financial statements
- Monitor cash flow and financial health
- Create executive dashboards and KPI reporting
- Identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
- Help improve financial processes and internal controls
Approval Processes
- Design and manage approval workflows for purchases and expenses
- Establish spending thresholds and approval authority
- Ensure departments remain within budget
- Create clear documentation for financial policies
Leadership Support
- Meet regularly with company leadership
- Provide financial recommendations on major initiatives
- Assist with budgeting, profitability, hiring decisions, and resource allocation
- Help leadership understand the financial impact of business decisions
Qualifications
- 5+ years in Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Director of Finance, CFO, or similar leadership roles
- Experience supporting small to mid-sized businesses
- Strong budgeting and financial forecasting experience
- Excellent understanding of financial statements and cash flow management
- Experience building financial reporting systems and dashboards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial leaders
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
