Independent Contractor | Project-Based | Primarily Remote
BDM Squared is expanding our ERP strategy and modernization practice and is seeking an experienced Fractional Senior ERP Strategy and Modernization Consultant to join our network of senior independent consultants.
This consultant will support public-sector, utility, and regulated-industry clients as they assess current ERP environments, evaluate modernization options, develop business cases and roadmaps, prepare for procurement, and plan successful implementations. The consultant may also support proposal development, solution design, level-of-effort estimates, oral presentations, and the development of reusable ERP assessment tools and methodologies.
We are looking for a senior ERP advisor with extensive experience across the ERP lifecycle, including strategy, architecture, requirements, integrations, data migration, vendor selection, implementation planning, testing, deployment, and stabilization. Experience with PeopleSoft FSCM and HCM,SAP, Oracle Cloud, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, Cayenta, or other enterprise platforms.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with client leadership to assess current ERP systems and identify opportunities for modernization and strategic improvement.
- Develop comprehensive ERP modernization roadmaps aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Provide expert guidance on selecting, implementing, and optimizing ERP solutions tailored to client needs.
- Lead or support project teams through the planning, execution, and delivery of ERP transformation initiatives.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement across various departments to ensure alignment and successful change management.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies throughout the modernization process.
- Offer ongoing advisory support on emerging trends, tools, and technologies relevant to ERP strategy.
- Maintain flexibility to adapt project scope based on client requirements, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards.
Experience
- At least 15 years of ERP, enterprise-application, or technology-transformation experience
- Experience developing ERP modernization strategies, alternatives analyses, business cases, and implementation roadmaps
- Strong understanding of ERP architecture, integrations, data, reporting, security, controls, and technical dependencies
- Experience supporting ERP procurements, requirements development, vendor evaluations, and demonstrations
- The ability to translate complex technical issues into clear business and executive recommendations
- Experience working with government agencies, utilities, or other regulated organizations
- Strong facilitation, analytical, writing, presentation, and executive-communication skills
- Prior management consulting or Big 4 experience, preferred
This is a fractional, project-based independent-contractor opportunity. Work will be authorized through individual statements of work, and hours will vary based on client needs, project schedules, and consultant availability. Assignments will be primarily remote, with occasional travel for workshops, presentations, and key project milestones.
Pay: $125.00 – $150.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 30.0 per week
