Fractional Search & AI Visibility Strategist
Independent contract engagement · Remote · Front-loaded, then ongoing at low volume
We are a successful and prominent personal injury law firm in Florida. Most of our digital marketing is supported by contracted vendor. We are seeking an experienced, independent marketing strategist to help us work with our vendor, define what gets measured, own our AI search visibility strategy, and assess the quality of work and outcomes particularly on the technical side and on AI search visibility.
You will also work with our in-house marketing manager and marketing assistant who will continue to run day-to-day vendor communications.
What you would own
- Vendor selection and scope. Help us with vendor selections, interrogate their claims, and define a scope of work with clear accountability and no overlap with what our staff will handle in-house.
- The measurement definition. Specify what must be reported and how; write the spec and validate the output.
- AI search visibility strategy. Own the prompt set, built from independent demand data. Monitor visibility across engines, interpret movement, and distinguish genuine gains from measurement artifacts or platform-wide shifts.
- Quarterly priorities. Decide what matters most next and why.
- Vendor review. Read the deliverables, check the claims, and critique.
- In-house versus vendor. Advise on what in-house staff can do directly to support digital marketing.
- Report-outs to leadership. Executive summary and read-out on what is working, what is not, and what decisions are needed.
Time commitment and structure
First 90 days: roughly 20–40 hours total, concentrated at the start for vendor evaluation, baseline setup, and scorecard definition.
Ongoing: roughly 4–6 hours per month for executive report-outs, vendor calls, periodic prompt-set maintenance.
Structure: independent contractor/consultant, invoiced
What we need you to have
- Senior hands-on search background of at least 10 years. You have owned SEO outcomes somewhere the results mattered to revenue, not just reported on them.
- Real experience in legal marketing or another high-value, low-volume lead generation category where a single conversion is worth thousands.
- Current, practical knowledge of AI search visibility.
- Enough technical depth to audit a vendor’s technical SEO work including site architecture, indexation, schema, Core Web Vitals
- The ability to explain technical work in plain English to a non-technical principal. Clarity is a core requirement of this role.
Independence requirement
You cannot hold a financial relationship with any agency, and you cannot receive referral fees, commissions or revenue share from any vendor or tool you recommend to us. If you have any affiliation that could be perceived that way, you must disclose it. The entire value of this role is that you have no incentive except our results.
What success looks like
Twelve months in, firm leadership can answer the question “is our marketing working?” because the measurement is honest, the reporting is legible, and someone independent has already checked the work.
Concretely: we hold our position in the markets where we are already strong, make real gains in the markets where we are not, grow non-branded organic traffic, and can state our cost per signed case with reasonable confidence.

Compensation
$ 100 – $ 250 per hour
