Fractional Clinical Consultant Part Time

The Fractional Clinical Consultant provides clinical oversight, consultation, and training to care management and community-based service teams at Live Aligned’s partner organizations. This is an indirect role. The Consultant does not carry a caseload and does not work directly with clients. The focus is supporting case managers and direct-service staff through clinical case consultation, care plan and documentation review, and guidance on escalations and complex, high-risk situations.

Working as part of Live Aligned’s clinical team, with ongoing oversight and guidance from the founder, the Consultant helps teams deliver high-quality, person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services to the clients they serve. The Consultant reports to the Clinical Director at Live Aligned and develops a direct, ongoing working relationship with each partner organization, partnering with them to support their staff. The scope reflected here supports case managers carrying caseloads of 30 clients or fewer.

Clinical consultation in this role means case-based clinical guidance and oversight of care management practice. It is not supervision toward licensure, and it does not create a supervisor of record relationship with any partner organization staff member.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Consultation & Oversight

• Provide weekly individual clinical case consultation to assigned case managers and direct-service staff.
• Facilitate monthly group case consultation and training for the care team (up to 8 staff).
• Review care plans, assessments, and documentation for quality and alignment with applicable model of care and documentation standards (this role does not sign off on care plans).
• Serve as the clinical point of consultation for escalations and complex or high-risk situations, providing guidance and risk-mitigation strategies.
• Be available to assigned teams during business hours, responding within 48 hours. No emergency, crisis, or after-hours support.

Training & Development

• Deliver onboarding and ongoing training on evidence-based practices, motivational interviewing, cultural humility, and care management standards.
• Coach staff on clinical judgment, care coordination, and appropriate referrals to behavioral health, primary care, or community-based services.

Quality & Compliance

• Support documentation quality and alignment with program and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with clinical reviews and readiness for managed care plan and regulatory requirements.

Team & Oversight

• Report to the Clinical Director at Live Aligned for clinical oversight and support, while developing a direct working relationship with the partner organization and partnering with them to support their staff.
• Work as part of Live Aligned’s clinical consultant team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Credentials

• Active, unrestricted California license in good standing: LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
• Master’s degree or higher in social work, counseling, or psychology, or the degree required for the license held.

Experience

• Experience providing clinical consultation, supervision, or coaching to case managers and direct-service staff.
• Background in community-based, integrated care.
• Solid behavioral health background.

Clinical Skills

• Working command of the PHQ-9 and other standardized, validated screening and assessment tools, sufficient to coach staff on administration and interpretation.
• Direct experience completing clinical assessments and developing care plans, so the Consultant can competently review and strengthen the work of the teams they support.
• Working knowledge of care management documentation and regulatory requirements.
• Strong grounding in trauma-informed care, whole-person care, and social determinants of health.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with comfort coaching and consulting to staff at varying levels of experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with community-based care management programs and supports.
• Bilingual (Spanish or other commonly requested languages).
• Prior experience delivering training to care teams.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

• Compensation: $55 to $80/hour, W-2 (depending on experience and licensure)
• Schedule: Part-time, fractional hours that vary with client load

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Remote position; must reside in California.
• Indirect role; no direct client contact and no caseload.
• Hours flex with Live Aligned’s client load and assigned teams.
